The council should be establishing partnerships with neighbouring councils, particularly City of Sydney council, to create co-ordinated transport solutions and to lobby state and federal governments for funding and leadership. Transport is a growing city wide issue and will not solved effectively within one local government area. Council needs to be able to leaverage the strength of a co-ordinated plan to be able to influence entities like the RTA, State Rail, State Transit Authority.

I agree, the inner west and sydney councils need to work together to integrate transport and to lobby the state. We need more light rail routes - couldnt the councils club together and deliver these despite the State?

State Planning NSW, NSW Schools: Schools and Parks. Compared to many other area's in Sydney the area is lacking in both Parks and Schools. Re: schools, the sensis details seem to match - population moving to other area's for schooling? Re: Parks\environment the area could be seen as a concrete city, and far from the environmental idea's much of the community seem to share, re-introducing tree's along main streets to create boulevardes perhaps? Melbourne (Garden City) and other cities even Sydney City (recent plans to take the city from the cars and back to the pedestrian);

Federal Govt, Carbon Reduction - example http://www.japanjournal.jp/tjje/show_art.php?INDyear=09&INDmon=02&artid=73a33f8aaf91403d3db3c190956d0c65

Bicycling NSW, Cycling NSW & RTA - See cycling needing to be further encouraged to help reduce major road traffic, the motorway extension under enmore could be used (keeping an eye on stack\exhaust issues) as an effective measure if done properly; Cycling encouraged as a sport, eg. fixed gear racing around local streets to crit racing, local cycling\cafe community grown, paths and road cycle tracks linked to city and eastern suburbs cycle route (eg. La Perouse with Sydney Cycling Club or Lidcombe Auburn Cycling Club and Sydney Olympic Park)

I fully agree with boxhead's comments,transport is a big issue in the inner west,come on councils you have the right expertee's to make things happen don't let politics get in between progress.Lets get our heads out of the sand and get on with it.

I think to develop effective urban green corridors for wildlife the councils need to collaborate with planning of both street scapes and open space management. Also get the residents involved. Back yards can be great habitat - wouldnt it be great to have advice on which trees to plant that comes from a meaningful strategy.

I would like to see more vehicle share programs: bike share, car share, etc.

Public transport from one part of the inner west to another is pretty poor. For example: how can one get from St Peters to Stanmore? The light rail should be extended to Dulwich Hill.
